Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Thanksgiving Day is a joyous and relaxing holiday for most humans, but for pets, Thanksgiving can pose some very real dangers. Holiday hazards are everywhere and many of those hazards will remain in place throughout the holiday season. To avoid pet injury or illness, consider the following tips in order to reduce the number of potential dangers.
1. Keep bones out of a dog or cat's reach--Bones can be very tempting, but if ingested could cause intestinal obstruction, punctures and tears to the intestinal tract and potentially internal bleeding!
2. Keep dogs and cats out of the kitchen--We all know our furry friends like to help with the cooking, but to avoid tripping the cook, burns from a hot oven, or cuts from a broken glass, it's best to keep your pet confined to a "pets only" room or yard for the day.
3. Dogs and Cats do NOT need to participate in Thanksgiving dinner--Unfamiliar foods can cause nausea, vomiting and/ or diarrhea and could potentially be toxic. Fat trimmings and fatty foods should be avoided at all costs as they can trigger Pancreatitis!
